No one gets burned by mentioning “fire,” but only when someone actually steps on the flames can he burn with fire. वृक्ष कबहुँ नहिं फल भखै, नदी न संचै नीर।
परमारथ के कारने, साधुन धरा सरीर।।

The tree never ate fruit, the river never watered.

Meaning:

जाति न पूछो साधु की, पूछ लीजिये ज्ञान।
मोल करो तलवार का, पड़ा रहन दो म्यान।
English translation:
Don’t ask the caste of the monk, ask for knowledge
Buy the sword, and leave the sheath behind.
Meaning:
Through these couplets, Kabirdas says that the importance of knowledge does not depend on one’s caste or religion. A learned person should be respected irrespective of his caste and religion. Kabir says as an example – The way a sword is useful in trouble and not the sheath that covers it, in the same way the knowledge of a gentleman is useful in a difficult situation, not his caste and religion. Through these couplets, Kabir is giving the message of mutual love by ending discrimination towards each other.
पोथी पढ़ि-पढ़ि जग मुवा, पंडित भया न कोइ। ढाई आखर प्रेम का, पढ़ै सो पंडित होइ॥
English translation:
All the worldly people died while reading the book, no one could become a Pandit (having real knowledge). But the one who chants only one syllable of the name of his beloved God (or recites one syllable of love) is truly the wise man.

In this couplet, the poet is saying that people memorized all the books and books, but no one could become a pundit in the real sense. Because they do not have a love for another human being. Kabir says that instead of this hollow knowledge, if you read two and a half times the words of love, then you will become a real pundit. ऐसी वाणी बोलिये, मन का आपा खोय, औरन को सीतल करे आपहुं सीतल होय।
English translation:
We should not speak such things for any person, which hurts the heart of the listener and makes you lose your temper.
Meaning:
According to Kabir, we shouldn’t speak insensitively about someone because it would make the listener’s heart hurt and cause you to lose your temper. We should say such a speech that gives happiness to the person in front, when you speak good things to the other person, you will also feel good. Means we should teach these things in our homes so that they don’t express hatred towards someone seeing their caste or religion.
पाथर पूजे हरि मिले, तो मैं पूजू पहाड़ घर की चाकी कोई ना पूजे, जाको पीस खाए संसार
English translation:
If God is found by worshiping a stone, then I should worship a mountain. It is better to have a spinning wheel in my house so that the whole world grinds and eats flour.
Meaning:
Kabir strongly attacks hypocrisy through this couplet, he says that if God could be found by worshiping a stone, then I would start worshiping the whole mountain, but it is not like that. And such a stone which is worshipped is more useful than that stone from which millstones are made and the whole world grinds wheat into flour from it and then fills its stomach. That is, it clearly means that Kabir advises staying away from unnecessary talk and superstition.
मल मल धोए शरीर को, धोए न मन का मैल । नहाए गंगा गोमती, रहे बैल के बैल ।।
